Cool Places to Park a Motorcycle

I had to get this post in before it was too late. Gary France posted a challenge Cool Places to Park a Motorcycle and readers have been submitting their photos so I started thinking where have I parked my motorcycles.... intentional or not.

I've unintentionally parked my Sprint ST in a field on the way home from the dealership, I just bought it and was unfamiliar with the bike. Fortunately, I stayed on it and kept it upright.

It took a Jeep and a winch to pull me out of the mud.

It was this incident when I realized I needed more rider training and signed up for the Team Oregon Advance Rider Training Course. This in turn made me want to become not only a better rider but start the journey toward becoming an instructor.

Another photo I considered was my bike parked in the living room. How many of us would be able to get away with parking our motorcycle in the house, let alone smack dab in the middle of the living room? Actually, even if we weren't in the middle of renovations, my wife is so awesome she would still allow it today... I on the other hand, don't want to have to replace the new flooring.

The photo I did submit is one of my favorites, I stopped on my way home from work one evening and took some photos of my beloved Tiger in a wheat field.

This field was much drier than the above mentioned field and this was intentional.

It is great seeing all of the photos and thank you Gary for posting the challenge!

I just love your bike in the living room. I don't think I could get mine up the stairs. That is awesome !

    1. It helps when you have french doors to the back deck, a couple of 2x6 planks and you're in... once you move the dining room table out of the way of course.

  3. As a wife that is indeed very supportive (bordering on enabler), I fear I would draw the line at bringing the mistress indoors. I vote that your wife wins the top crown for Wife of the Year....and all three of your options have raised the bar pretty high for the rest of the competitors.

    1. Hello Martha, thanks for the comment and the vote. She certainly is Wife of the Year to me and has been for the past seventeen. However, it takes a very understanding spouse to allow a man to tootle off to Alaska with his mistress.

  4. I don't know Troubadour, I'll have to go against my wife's statement above...Martha is the best! However, I will give your lovely bridge big kudos for the living room shot!

    1. Martha is definitely the tops, kudos to her for 'letting' you go to Alaska ;)

  5. Brad, I'm going to buck the trend here...that first photo is a classic in my book. A cow in place of your ST wouldn't be more beautiful, even if she did have big brown eyes.

    1. Ha, would that make her a Kawasaki? She was up to her belly in mud and wouldn't moooooove. Notice her listing to the right, hence no kickstand required.

  7. The wheat field pic is great.
And so, ummm, what did the wife want in exchange for the bike in the living room? The new flooring?

    1. Thanks! She wanted nothing in exchange, she is just cool that way. In fact, she encourages me to do half the crazy things I do and talks me out of the other half I come up with on my own.

  9. Great pictures, great locations. I have, once or twice, had a motorcycle in the living room but sadly, no pictures to share. I think if the missus had had a camera it would have become a missile rather than a photo taking implement.

    1. Thank you. BTW, there's one way to find out about the missile and that of course is to try it again, never let fear and common sense stand in your way.

    1. Hmmm, I never realized I was in such danger, thank you for the warning. Wait... is that why all my riding buddies want to take me hunting?

  11. I love the bike parked on the livingroom, but the wheat field is my favorite, it looks like the Tiger is stalking something.

  12. Hmmm, never saw the pics of the Sprint playing adv bike before - must have been a little exciting...

Always liked those pics of the tiger camouflaged in the wheat but always wanted to know what she was stalking...

  13. I dont have a problem with bikes in lounge rooms .. extra seats and means I dont have to either put the covers on them or wash them quite so much .. if only they would fit in our doors I'm sure they'd be there now. Very cool pic Brad!!

Love the one in the wheat field, definately my favourite!

The first one in the field is pretty cool though, because the story and the concequences of it are pretty awsome.

  14. Brad, I've got a friend who says if you park your bike in the living room it helps to sell the house. He believes(speaking from experience) people will remember it better. I'm inclinded to believe, I might just remember seeing a motorcycle in the livingroom though, in the past, I usually had bread baking in the oven to make people feel at home at the viewing.) But gotta say, I've alway's love the tiger 'crouching' in the wheat field myself. Great places to park!
