We got up this morning and suited up to go out for a group ride to the coast for lunch. Stopping to take pictures while on a group ride is never an easy task so the whole day I was wondering how to make the ABCD Challenge. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I just had to find a deserted road to set it up.
After the group ride, we headed home and I finally found a road that would suffice, even then a car disturbed our set up. Cagers just don't understand motorcyclists, let alone motorcyclists parked in the middle of the road taking pictures of their bikes.
I wanted to portray an optical illusion as what we see when we ride isn't always as they first appear. I've mistaken roadside mailboxes as pedestrians, deer and other roadside hazards. Curves, corners and side roads filtering sunlight and shadowed by overhanging trees can play tricks on the eyes.
Although a bit worn and faded, (aren't we all), thanks for the centerline challenge.
Nice one Troubadour - a pocket-sized tiger! Yep, I had to scoot to the roadside a couple of times too before getting a photo taken. fortunately they were neighbours who just poked fun as they went by!
ReplyDeleteWell done - I couldn't even get the bike with me on a centre line -had to do it one foot and take the bike to a 'side line'. Traffic was wild, but this was fun.
ReplyDeleteTraffic was exactly my issue, too, and cagers were just rushing by, despite my shot was taken in a 30km speed zone. Cute baby tiger.

ReplyDeleteThanks all, we were headed home from a group ride and Trobairitz asks me over the radio if I was looking for somethng. I kept slowing down at side roads looking for a center line with a slight incline. It was late, we were both tired but I had to get "the shot" on May 1st, so I did. It took a few practice shots to get the pose just right all while listening for cars and keeping the human shutter release happy. This is just South of Corvallis off of Bellfountain Rd., I was afraid as I got closer to town traffic would get heavier and heavier. Traffic in the country isn't as frequent as in town but they drive a whole lot faster and you have to dodge flying beer cans.

ReplyDeleteI'm too nervous to leave the bike parked in the road. I'm afraid a car will come along, I'll panic and drop the bike trying to move it out of the way. Good job on the photo...and dodging the beer cans!
